The third round of the National Junior Racing Series (NJRS) saw fast and hard racing at the 8 Bar Crit Course in Germany.  The fast, flat and technical course brought out the best in the sprinters for this round.

Round 2 Category Recaps

JM15 Race

Eddie Willis (Tamworth Cycling Club, QLD) narrowly took the win over Wil Holmes (Norwood Cycling Club, SA) by under .01.  Third and fourth places were equally close with Finbar O’Sullivan (Seymour Broadford Cycling Club, VIC) narrowly outsprinting Round #3 winner Ben Meakin (Ballarat Sebastapol Cycling Club, VIC).

JW15 Race

Lauren Bates (Canberra Cycling Club, ACT) and Georgia Gardiner (Jindabyne Cycling Club, NSW) rode away from the field with Bates getting back into the winner’s circle after placing second in Round #2 and winning Round #1.   Milena Freer (Bendigo & District Cycling Club, VIC) continued her strong form finishing third for the second straight round and riding solo to the finish.

JM17 Race

The JM17 race proved to be the most thrilling of the day with Ryan Britten (Illawarra Cycling Club, NSW), South Australian Sam Golding (Norwood Cycling Club, SA),  Harvey McIntosh (Hamilton Wheelers Cycling Club, QLD) and Hayden Vanderploeg (City of Burnie Cycling Club, TAS) pulling away from the field early and creating an elite lead group.  In the final laps, Britten and Golding pulled ahead to battle it out for the win.  Britten would take his second straight win taking out the final sprint over Golding by .6 of a second. McIntosh rounded out the podium proving too strong for Vanderploeg on the final lap.

JW17 Race

Jasmin Eddy (Bendigo & District Cycling Club, VIC) took home an all Victorian sprint as she pipped Talia Appleton (Mansfield Mount Buller Cycling Club, VIC) by a mere .04.  Lucinda Stewart (Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club, VIC) continued her consistency with another podium finish just behind Eddy and Appleton.  Ava Giarmondo (Brunswick Cycling Club, VIC) fell just short in the final sprint to take 4th.

JM19 Race

Callum Milne (Peel District Cycling Club, WA) continued his undefeated streak taking out the final sprint over Dalton Stretton (City of Burnie, TAS).  Jacob Casey (Horsham Cycling Club, VIC) would end up 3rd in the final standings.

JW19 Race

Briana McDonald (Townsville Cycle Club, QLD) moved up two spots from round #2 to take out the final sprint narrowly over club-mate Stephanie Corset (Townsville Cycle Club, QLD) and round #2 winner Amy Wright (Launceston Cycling Club, TAS) taking third.
